Google Apps Configuration E-mail

Outlook 2007 Configuration


Open Outlook.
  1. Click the Tools menu, and select Account Settings...
  2. On the E-mail tab, click New...
  3. If you are prompted to Choose E-mail Service, select Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP, and click Next.
  4. Fill in all necessary fields to include the following information:
  5. Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the From: field of outgoing messages.
    Email Address:
    Enter your full Gmail email address ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). Google Apps users, enter your full address in the format username@your_domain.com.
    Password:
    Enter your email password.

    Manually configure server settings or additional server types: Leave this option unchecked if you want to automatically configure Outlook 2007. If you want to manually configure Outlook 2007, check this box now. Google Apps users should configure manually as follows.

    Enter name, email address, and password

  6. Click Next. If you are configuring Outlook 2007 automatically, you're done! Just click Finish.
  7. Successful Configuration

  8. If you are configuring Outlook 2007 manually, select Internet E-mail and click Next.
  9. Verify your User Information, and enter the following additional information:
  10. Server Information

    Account Type: POP3

    Incoming mail server: pop.gmail.com (Google Apps users, enter the server names provided, don't add your domain name in these steps)

    Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com

    Logon Information

    User Name: Enter your Gmail username (including @gmail.com). Google Apps users, enter your full address in the format username@your_domain.com

    Password: Enter your email password.

    Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA): Leave this option unchecked.

  11. Click the More Settings... button, and select the Outgoing Server tab.
  12. Check the box next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.

  14. Click the Advanced tab, and check the box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) under Incoming Server (POP3). Enter 995 in the 'Incoming Server' box.
  15. In the Outgoing server (SMTP) box, enter 587, and select TLS from the drop-down menu next to Use the following type of encrypted connection:.

  16. Click OK.
  17. Click Test Account Settings... After receiving 'Congratulations! All tests completed successfully', click Close.
  18. Click Next, and then click Finish.

Congratulations! You're done configuring your client to send and retrieve Gmail messages.

Symbian S60 (Nokia)


To configure IMAP for your Symbian S60 device, just follow these steps:

  1. Enable IMAP in your Gmail settings.
      Sign in to Gmail.
      Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
      Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
      Select Enable IMAP & click Save Settings.
  2. If you have never set up email on your phone before, select 'Yes' to define a new mailbox. If you already have other mailboxes, select 'Options' and then 'New mailbox.'
  3. Select 'Start' to begin the setup wizard.
  4. Select 'IMAP4' and then 'Next.'
  5. Enter your full email address (including '@gmail.com') as the email address and select 'Next.' Google Apps users, enter your full address in the format 'username@your_domain.com.'
  6. Enter 'imap.gmail.com' as the incoming mail server and select 'Next.'
  7. Enter 'smtp.gmail.com' as the outgoing mail server and select 'Next.'
  8. Select the appropriate access point and then 'Next.'
  9. Enter a descriptive name for the email account mailbox name.
  10. Once your mailbox is set up, select it from the email mailbox settings screen.
  11. Select 'Connection settings' > 'Incoming e-mail.'
  12. Enter your address (including '@gmail.com' or '@your_domain.com') and password.
  13. Select 'SSL/TLS' for your security (ports) and define your port as '993.'
  14. Select 'Back.'
  15. Select 'Outgoing e-mail.'
  16. Enter your email address (including '@gmail.com' or '@your_domain.com') and password.
  17. Select 'StartTLS' for your security (ports) and define your port as '587.'
  18. Select 'Back' and change any other settings according to your preferences.

Blackberry

To integrate Gmail with the BlackBerry's email client, just follow these steps:

  1. On your BlackBerry device, navigate to your home screen
  2. Select the icon that lets you set up email (this can be called BlackBerry Set-up, E-mail settings, or Personal Email Set-up)
  3. Follow the setup instructions provided on your device

If setup is successful, you should receive a confirmation message and a new mailbox icon should appear on your device's home screen labeled with your Gmail address.

To configure Outlook 2007 for your Gmail address:

  1. Enable POP in your email account. Don't forget to click Save Changes when you're done.
  2. Open Outlook.
